Instructions
  1. Place the chickpeas and the garlic in the Instant Pot inner pot. Add 5 cups water and stir. Add the vegetable oil. Secure the lid, ensuring the valve is turned to the Sealing position. Press the Bean/Chili button and set the time to 50 minutes.
  2. Once cooking is complete, allow the appliance to natural release for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, turn the valve to the Venting position to release the pressure.
  3. When all the pressure is released, carefully remove the lid. Place a colander over a large bowl in the sink. Drain the chickpeas into the colander and capture the chickpea cooking liquid in the bowl, reserving the liquid for later use.
  4. Once drained, combine the chickpeas with salt, pepper, 3 tablespoons olive oil, and 1/4 cup of the reserved chickpea liquid in a food processor. If using a blender, this step will need to be done in two batches. Pulse the food processor to blend the ingredients. Then turn the food processor to high, slowly adding the remaining olive oil and reserved chickpea cooking liquid as needed until smooth and of the desired consistency. Before serving, place in bowl, drizzle additional olive oil on top, and season with freshly cracked black pepper. Serve with pita bread, carrots, peppers, and cucumbers.
  5. TIP: To try different hummus flavors, consider adding roasted red peppers, hot pepper sauce, or fresh herbs during the blending phase.

This recipe is incomplete. It does not finish the steps of blending. From experience i kniw how to make hummus, but the blending steps need to be added.

Thank you for your feedback! We were absolutely missing a step so we’ve updated it now.

The hummus it’s self is fine.

I followed all of the directions, and had to add 5 more cups of water and and about 35 more minutes of cook time to get the chickpeas cooked through. This made it a bit of a frustrating process.

This recipe is easy to make, but needs seasoning. If I had lemon juice on hand, I would add a teaspoon. I added extra salt abd pepper and added paprika. I don’t have a food processor. Instead of using my blender and splitting the blending, I put the ingredients back in the Instant Pot pot and used my immersion blender to blend. For the person with an Ultra, on bean/chili, use the knob to select and click the time, and adjust as needed.

This is easily the worst hummus recipe i have ever made.
    For starters. Hummus needs tahini
Second lemon juice and more olive oil.
