Easy and delicious company meal!
In the overview it states the cooking technique is “pressure,” but in the directions it indicates “steam.” Which one is it? I have not made this yet so will not rate…
The salmon came out very flakey and extremely dry… Is that normal? I’m thinking next time I should drizzle olive oil or even put butter on them and wrap them in foil or parchment paper? Any thoughts?
Made this last night came out well but not as pink as I would like. Put in the oven on Broil for 5 additional minutes and was to the color I prefer.
The salmon was very over cooked. I would try 3 minutes next time.
Super easy to make. Recommend patting the salmon completely dry before seasoning.
Super easy, super fast, SUPER GOOD!!!
So easy and tasty!
Very good! Buttery and flaky
I make this often. I never cared for salmon before, now we have it at least ince a month. I rub a little olive oil on the filets, too.
It was fairly simple and it came out very well I did knock the time down from 5 minutes to 4 so that my fish wet and dry out and it seem to work quite well I recommend very much
Should the salmon be frozen or thawed before cooking?
Melt in your mouth tender. Needs a little more flavor.
I had a thick piece of salmon so the 5 minutes on high pressure steam wasnt enoigh. Cooked for an additional 6 minutes on low pressure steam.
Should we pressure cook or steam? I steamed for 5 min and it was only 130 degrees – currently steaming for another 5 min.
The thickness and weight of the salmon will determine how long it will take. If it was less than 1 inch and 3 ounces then you would need to adjust.
Mailletsha,
The recipe states to steam. If your salmon was frozen or a different size, that can affect the cooking time and the finished outcome. Tip: If cooking temperature is just a bit lower than the safe cooking temperature, set it to 2-5 minutes more because the meat will be cooking while re-pressurizing; which will be adding an extra 5 -15 minutes on top of the entered cooking time
Hi Britgolf,
Most recipes are cooked fresh unless stated. If you are using frozen instead of fresh you will have to increase the time, the amount of time depends on the recipe and if it sits above the cooking liquid you will need to significantly adjust the time compared to frozen item submerged in the cooking liquid.
I used this recipe primarily as a guide for how to cook my salmon in the instant pot. It was a thin piece of salmon (maybe 1/2 inch thick at thickest point) and it following the instructions here, the salmon was cooked how perfectly. I served on a bed of pasta and veggies.
Super tasty, quick and healthy dinner!
Can i replace the salmon with mahi mahi?
Hi Ted1992,
You are able to alter recipes to suit your preference. Keep in mind recipe alterations may need adjustments to the cooking time.
This was so easy, so fast and so good!! Would highly recommend. Only put water upto steam rack to steam. Came out perfect.
Couldn’t see recipe
Perfectly cooked!
Super easy and tasty.
Salmon was dry and bland.
My husband and I made this tonight and was great. We will definitely be make it again.
Needs more time. 5 minutes only brought it to 118 degrees. Let rest for 5 minutes and only came to 125. Maybe cook 1 minute longer
Hi aaronlyn,
Depending on the thickness of your salmon you may need an extra minute.
