Instructions
  1. Set Instant Pot to “Sauté”, and add oil. Sauté onions, carrots, celery, and garlic until the onions are translucent. Add ground meat and seasonings, and cook until meat is brown.
  2. Deglaze Instant Pot with red wine, and cook for 15 minutes, until wine is reduced. Stir in tomatoes and sugar, then close the lid. Press “Cancel” then “Manual”, and cook on “High Pressure” for 15 minutes.
  3. Serve over spaghetti, or your favourite pasta, with a dusting of Parmesan cheese. Enjoy!

Unfortunately our family wasnt impressed with this recipe at all. The flavor was lacking and it wasnt nearly as good as other non instant pot bolognese recipes ive tried. We wont be making this one again. This was our first recipe from the app, im hoping others will be more promising.

My first Instant Pot success! It wasn’t spectacular but it wasn’t a failure either. The taste was just ok.

It was good. I used ground sausage meat only for more flavour. Would put in less liuid next time. Had to put on saute for 25 minutes and stir constantly to thicken the sauce. Was not bland.

Very tasty sauce! I did not have problems with consistency or flavor, but did improvise a little with the spices I put in. It was delicious on some homemade noodles.

Absolutely delicious! We did add speghetti sauce over this sauce because we like it more as a speghetti sauce with the Bolognese. Will definitely make again! Yummmm!

Its ok for a quick version of a bolognese. It wasn’t super flavorful, and not even close to the well-rounded flavors you would get from simmering it on the stove top for hours.

Made this with white cooking wine instead of red and used spicy Italian sausage. It is fantastic with tons of flavor!

Super delicious. Tasted like it took all day to make. I doubled the recipe and cooked for 20 minutes. Glad i did. The leftovers will be AWESOME.

You really need to amp up the seasonings to make this dish better, but its a decent start. I will be putting this back in the instant pot and ramping up the seasonings

Best Instant Pot recipe so far. Sauce was super flavorful and complex. Froze well. Stellar consistency and really great with bucatini, cavatappi and penne. Herbs are nice to add at the end.

Its a tradition in most Italian Family’s that Sunday means Sauce Day! So, with that said, I thought I’d give this recipe a try, and if I failed, I’d have to suffer the consequences and wrath of said La Familia! Well, I’m happy to report that this was probably the BEST sauce I EVER made! Seriously! And the Family LOVED it too! I highly recommend using San Marzano Tomatoes to really bring-out the flavor. I/we can’t thank you enough for this amazing recipe! Yes, I did add more Garlic! 🙂

I made this but switched it a lot.

Did not add celery. My husband hates it. So did 2 full cups of onion and carrots.
    Instead of the pork

Instead of pork i did the chorizo that we make homemade. Did 1 1/2 cup of chopped tomatoes and one can of spaghetti sauce. Delicious

This was my first instant pot recipe and it did not disappoint! So easy to make and tastes amazing. I’ll never buy store pasta sauce again.

Good recipe but defintely a slightly different take on this traditional sauce. Having grown up in an area of high quality Italian restaurants which serve this sauce, I’m more used to having more tomato sauce in my bolognese which this does not. Granted, I can add it but it will take some trial-and-error to figure out the correct quanity.

First time i made this it was great. Second time I got the burn notice. The instant pot is quite tempermental and does not like tomatos.

I made this. Used veal instead of beef. Hot italian sausages. This stuff is better than you get at restaurants. I will never buy canned sauce again. One can of crushed tomatoes plus the carrots celery onion “mash” spices, meats. Follow the times. It rocks.

This sauce is really good. However I have an 8qt pot and wondering if anyone has ajusted this yummy recipe for the 8qt. thanks, Mrs Jones

    Hi Jonesmap2,

Since most recipes are for the Instant Pot Pressure Cooker 6 Quart, you’ll need to increase the ingredients by half for cooking in the 8 Quart. Or you could double the recipe.
