Hi! I am Laura, I am just a small town country girl who you know…grew up and married a handsome Soldier! This little nest on the interwebs is my haven to share recipes, tips, tricks, homemaking, and homeschool advice. I love to cook wholesome foods, with the occasional treat. I grew up on a farm with a garden so using a lot of fresh ingredients is important to me. I also have a child with an allergy, so allergy-friendly recipes are very important to me! Y’all come pour yourself a cup of sweet tea and sit back and relax a bit!

I’m new to this. Book says that minimum liquid is 2 cups but this recipe calls for 1 3/4. Is that ok?
I added peas. Family loved it
If you keep the grease and butter, that will account for the additional 1/4 cup. I have also done small amounts of rice with 1 cup rice and 1 cup water with no issues.
Super easy and the family loved it!
Delicicious! Will fix again!
Needs additional spices otherwise very tasty and easy to prepare.
I am so glad everyone is enjoying this recipe. <3
Added a few extra spices and fresh garlic and onion to the butter. Was very tasty everyone liked it. Also very easy.
I’d like to find out if there is a Scalloped Potatoes with Ham Recipe or would I use this and use Ham instead and not the chicken broth, milk instead, etc., etc. I have done Scalloped Potatoes in an old Mirro Matic Pressure cooker for years. Have this new Instant Pot as a Gift and want to begin trying it. Lots of left-over ham, from which I always do Split Pea Soup as well.
Can I use frozen ground beef and a package of Betty Crocker scolloped potatoes? No time to go to the grocery store.
