The author forgot the liquid! Following this recipe using marinara without liquid is too thick and caused pot to go to burn display. I added 2 cups of broth and that resolved the issue. Look at similar recipes all call for extra liquid. Please fix this recipe!

I sauteed the meatballs first then added a sauce with a lot of liquid. I got the burn notice when I tried to pressure cook for 2 minutes to heat everything and finish the meatballs. Luckily the heat needed to get it that far was sufficient.
Learned great lessons on this one.
Definitely add more liquid to this recipe unless your marinara (sauce) is pure liquid.

    Hi Robby,

For this recipe, it calls for cooked spaghetti in the last step. You would need to make the spaghetti on the side and not with the pasta sauce and meatballs in the Instant Pot.

    Hi MommyRobot,

Recipes that call for canned/store bought sauces may need added liquid depending on the brand used as some are thicker than others.

Made them for dinner tonight and it was a hit with the entire family from ages 1 to 35! Before it actually got to the cooking time, sometime near the end of pressurizing I got a burn warning. I released the pressure and two meatballs were burning. But to my suprise the meatballs were actually cooked through (tested with thermometer). So maybe it doesn’t need the full 8 mins.

I have made this a few times, but it definitely requires added liquid. I usually add a cup of water to the sauce before pressure cooking. Less liquid would be needed if your sauce is thinner. I also use grated parmesan cheese in place of the bread crumbs. (I’m on a low carb diet)

We have a Max but do all recipes on High since that’s how they are written. These turned out well although a bit of a mess to clean the lid, ring, etc.

These were pretty great! We just bought our instant pot and are still newbies when it comes to all of it. So were tried our hand at these “easy” meatballs. We had to modify our recipe as we didn’t have all the ingredients it calls for but it in the end it still worked well for our family. My picky eater even enjoyed them and my 9 month old loved every bit of it from head to toe! Great starter for instant pot newbies!

The whole family loved these! They were super tender and stayed together perfectly. I did end up adding about a cup of water to the pasta sauce I used and I think that helped with the cooking!
