This recipe was absolute perfection!!! Totally worth a trip to the grocer store for all the ingredients!!! My husband LOVED it!!! He said “this recipe gives Cracker Barrel a run for its money.” The only down side was that it took quite a while to cut everything up, but the end result was worth it!!!

Good base recipe. Added 1 can cream of chicken soup at the broth stage and flavour was very good and it thickened nicely at the end. It needs some black pepper I suggest at least 1/2 tsp. My wife not a dumpling fan this would also work well subbing mini potatoes added with the rest of the veg and chicken, also probably good over egg noodles or even with soda crackers.

My little family loves this recipe. The only thing i do different than the recipe is flatten the dough before adding it to the pot.

My family liked it. Said the taste was good but I felt it was to thick. Will use it as a base and just add my own twist to it.

  6. Lorine
    Lorine says:

The base was excellent but I didn’t care for the biscuits – they were “slimy”. Next time I’ll try making actual dumplings that I make for stew, and drop them in tiny “lumps”.

The taste was phenomenal. However, we felt the dumplings were too gooey. Will make again, but will try using a biscuit mix and dropping it on the simmering broth without stirring.

This was the quickest and most sought after version of chicken and dumplings my family has had. Its rare for my kids to eat this type of dish but they both got seconds! #noleftovers

Quick to prep and cook and most importantly amazingly delicious. I did however substitute the Progresso chicken broth that was recommended with organic chicken broth

My 1st time using my IP!! This was easy and delicious! I made my own poultry seasoning, added mushrooms, a can of cream of celery in lieu of heavy whipping cream… yum!! I used the recommended biscuits but cooked them for 10 minutes since other reviews said they original timr left the dough undercooked. Cant wait to make it again!!

Very tasty! And savory! It doubles well. Added the “dumplings” while maintaing a boil, then cut back and added a total of 10 min. Dumplings were cooked and not doughy.

Turned out delicious. Used pancake mix to make the dumplings. Entire dish was gone by the end of dinner. I did dice up some bacon and saute it before the adding the onions in step one. Yum!

Delicious! My 2nd recipe in my new 3 quart mini (halved the recipe). Used a bit more than the called for broth (and used bone broth) because of some comments that it was too thick. Worked perfectly. Instead of poultry seasoning, used Herbs de Provence, and added some nutmeg and pepper. Cooked the biscuits closer to 8 or 9 minutes, also based on comments. Also kept turning saute on and off to keep it from boiling. But very easy and we really loved it!

So delicious, but I did use 4 cups of broth instead of two and probabky more chicken and more veg haha i also seasoned with a few more things than suggested. The whole gamimy loved it. I used regular pilsbury biscuits and just used two to make one and cutninto 4 instead of 8. Overall i recommend it!

Made today, on favs list. I’ll make my own dumplings next time though. Did add 1/2tsp black pepper. Perhaps a cup or two of diced red spuds as well.

We ended up adding potatoes, green beans, and broccoli instead of doing chicken! It turned out great and our 2 yo ate 2 bowls of it!

My first meal in the IP. Super easy to understand the recipe. This tasted wonderful. I doubled the chicken broth and heavy whipping cream to make a soupier meal. My family loved it!!

Turned out great! My 5 year old loved it as well. Didn’t seem to have an issue with dumplings being gummy or slimy like previous reviews but did not stir them until about 4-5 min. in to cooking them and also simmered for about 10 min. instead of 4-6 min. Did add can of cream of chicken and 2 tsp chopped garlic to the original recipe. Will make again for sure.

I added frozen peas when I added the bisquite dough. Added color and taste. I’d cook the dough a little longer than stated, still seemed a bit raw. Overall, we enjoyed it. So easy and hearty too.

Workaholicpanda… Melt the butter in the IP insert pan. Use the saute function and just drop your butter in to melt it.

Including prep time this took longer than 40 minutes. I also let it simmer for 10 minutes instead of 4-6 to allow the biscuits to cook longer. Still easy to assemble and walk away though.

  25. tiggerinak
    tiggerinak says:

Takes longer than 40 minutes when including prep time for chopping veggies, etc but still easy. A little bland whej done but nothing some “salt and pepper to taste” doesnt fix. Need to fine tune the dumplings. Cooked them for 10 minutes and they were still a little gooey on the outside but overall a good recipe. We will be making this one again.

Definitely easy to make and its delicious. Instead of 5 biscuits cut up I used 4 and baked 4 in the oven which i put on top at the end. Cook time was closer to 30 minutes but worth it.

Love this dish! Notice i didnt say ‘recipe’??? Lol! Because i strayed from it…I diced up as much vegetables as i saw fit, I used chicken legs & thigh boiled skinless in water. (Had no breasts available)I shredded the chicken. I used a entire 1 tsp of salt instead of 1/2, I used the entire can of biscuits cut in 4’s, and I strained the water from the chicken to use instead of chicken broth. I also added the can of cream of chicken. Came out DELICIOUS! Just not enough! Will be making again!!
