Instructions
  1. Place chicken in a medium bowl and coat with 2 tbsp Buffalo sauce.
  2. Pour 1 cup water in the Instant Pot. Add coated chicken in one even layer.
  3. Using the display panel select the MANUAL or PRESSURE COOK function*. Use the +/- buttons and program the Instant Pot for 10 minutes.
  4. When the time is up, let the pressure naturally release for 5 minutes, then quick-release the remaining pressure.
  5. Carefully remove the chicken from the pressure cooker to a cutting board and shred, reserving juices.
  6. In a medium bowl, mix together remaining hot sauce, cream cheese and ranch dressing until smooth, then mix in shredded chicken.
  7. Add remaining 2 cups of water to reserved juices in pot. Add pasta and stir.
  8. Top with chicken mixture in an even layer--do not stir. Secure the lid, making sure the vent is closed.
  9. Using the display panel select the MANUAL or PRESSURE COOK function*. Use the +/- buttons and program the Instant Pot for 4 minutes.
  10. When the time is up, quick-release the remaining pressure and stir until thickened.
  11. Spread mixture in a shallow casserole or baking dish and top with shredded cheese.
  12. Set the pan under the broiler until cheese just begins to brown, 3-5 minutes.
  13. Top with bacon and serve.
Recipe Notes

*If your Instant Pot does not have a MANUAL function, use the Pressure Cook function.

Made this tonight followed recipe exact. Except I added 1/2 cup cream to make it smoother.
Found it a bit on the bland side but will spice it up to my liking next time. Its a good base recipe.

This dish is amazing. I changed a few things on the first go….I used chicken stock instead of water. I added more hot sauce and added cheese to the chicken mixture. And at the end added green onion on top. Unbelievably amazing.

Made quite a few substitutions, to work with what I had on hand, such as boneless, skinless chicken thighs–and I did not shred them. Also, used a powdered Buffalo Seasoning, and a powdered ranch dressing with one cup mayo, and added chicken bouillon to the water. Used the cheese on hand, which included cheddar and jack. Whisked the cream cheese and seasonings right in the cooker after removing the chicken.

Note the ingredient list says six but the bacon is extra.
We made this without bacon because I didnt add it to grocery list as it was only noted in the end of directions.
However this is still an excellent recipe. My family loved it and there really wasnt even enough for lunch leftovers.

More seasoning or veggies would make this better. I added creole seasoning on top of the mixture in the casserole dish before adding cheese.

A little bland. I recommend adding more buffalo sauce. Also, the video shows bacon being used but its not on the recipe list.

This was delicious! I didn’t use the bacon because it wasn’t on the ingredient list and I didn’t have any on hand.

Wasn’t to bad. Some of my pasta stuck to the pot. Little plain. I might try it with a bbq sauce next time.

Definitely add the bacon. Strangely totally kicks it up a few notches. Cook about 6 pieces and sprinkle on top. I’ve also used various pastas. Elbow macaroni works perfectly fine.
Comes out picture perfect and is a good leftover. You could up the hot sauce if you wanted and it wouldn’t hurt it.

Its amazing. I love buffalo chicken anything so i might be biased. I added bleu cheese crumbles and cheddar cheese to the top before broiling. Bacon and green onions to garnish.

Made this tonight for the first time. Turned out great! I doubled the hot sauce. Next time I will add some spices to the chicken before putting in the pot, as it was a little bland. Other than that, we loved it!

Nice and creamy. Everything cooked well. Flavor did not taste like buffalo sauce; tasted like green pepper. The zing & tang of the buffalo sauce was missing.

Super tasty! I added an extra 1/4 cup of hot sauce. Turned out great. Noodles were firm. Add 1 minute to noodles if you want them more tender. I will definetly be making again.

This sure sounds good, but I got to the pasta cooking stage, turned the pressure cooker back on for 4 minutes as indicated. All of sudden “Food Burn” indicator comes on! I used gluten free pasta. Could not have made that much of a difference, could it?

    Hi Russellholly333,

Substitutions will have an effect on any recipe.

The pasta probably required more water and absorbed more liquids then regular pasta.

Flavor is good. But I caution against adding 2 more cups of liquid during the final phase. This was TOO runny. Here’s to hoping it firms up in the oven…

This was the first meal i made with my instant pot and it was good!! I would probably do 3min on the noodles next time just slightly soggy. But very good!

This is the worst app ive ever used. The search field is clueless. Even when you enter the full title of the dish it cant find it !! Scrolling is imposssible because no matter where you touch the screen it opens the recipe you touched. Grrrr. Fix it!!!

  23. rebagor
    rebagor says:

Our favorite Instant Pot recipe this far. We don’t do the pasta, though. We add the shredded cheese (and a little blue cheese) stir it up and eat it like a dip, or with a green salad.
Also, the comment about the app is not wrong. This app is funky.

Very good! Next time going to add a little more hot sauce to the mixture because it wasn’t spicy enough for me!

Made it! It was so good. However to me it wasnt spicy enough so we added more sauce. We used almost a half of texas pete buffalo wing sauce. But next time wouldnt put the extra 2 cups of water. But still a good dish.

This was the first meal i’ve made in my instant pot. I followed the directions for the most part. I used 1 large chicken breast and cut it into cubes before cooking and then read that it was supposed to go in whole. Oops. I used 3.5 tablespoons of buffalo sauce instead of 2 tablespoons, to cover the chicken. I used 8oz of cream cheese instead of 6oz. Instead of adding 2 cups of water to the pasta, I added 1 cup. Do not add extra cup of water.

I used 1 large chicken breast and cut it into cubes before cooking but later read that I was supposed to shred the chicken, so leave it whole and definitely shred chicken. I used 3-3.5 tbs of buffalo sauce to coat the chicken. I used a whole 8oz cream cheese block, 1c bacon ranch dressing & 1/3c buffalo sauce. Instead of adding 2 cups of water to the pasta, I added 1 cup. I measured 16oz of penne pasta. Once it sat for a few minutes, it wasn’t soupy. Would be better as a dip without pasta.

This was a big hit. I did make modifications based on the past reviews: I used boneless skinless thighs instead of breast. Cut them into small chunks after cooking. I used 8 oz cream cheese and about 1/2 cup hot sauce to mix in. Just poured enough sauce over thighs to completely cover them prior to cooking. Used 16 oz rotini and only added an additional 1/2 cup water prior to putting pasta in. Dont forget the bacon! I put it on prior to broiling and it really added a ton of flavor. Love!!
