Instructions
  1. Season stew meat with salt, pepper and Italian seasoning
  2. Add olive oil to the Instant Pot. Using the display panel select the SAUTE function.
  3. When oil starts to sizzle, brown the meat on all sides. Meat will not be cooked through. Do not crowd the pot--you may have to work in batches. Transfer browned meat to a bowl, but leave as much liquid as possible in the pot.
  4. Add garlic, onions, carrots and celery to the pot. Continue to sauté for 3-4 minutes (if it gets too dry, add additional 1 tbsp of olive oil)
  5. Add beef broth to the pot and deglaze by using a wooden spoon to scrape the brown bits from the bottom of the pot.
  6. Add beef back to the pot along with Worcestershire sauce, tomato sauce and potatoes.
  7. Turn the pot off by selecting CANCEL, then secure the lid, making sure the vent is closed.
  8. Using the display panel select the MANUAL function*. Use the +/- buttons and program the Instant Pot for 30 minutes.
  9. When the time is up, let the pressure naturally release for 15 minutes, then quick-release the remaining pressure.
  10. Mix together the cornstarch with 2 tbsp cold water in a small bowl and stir into the stew until thickened.
Recipe Notes

*If your Instant Pot does not have a MANUAL function, use the Pressure Cook function.

I wanted a fast stew. This was perfect!! My picky picky husband even liked it. I didn’t have a can of tomato sauce so I threw a can of tomato soup in. Worked just fine. But I like a really thick gravy so I trippled the thickner recipe. I’d definitely make this again!!

This was simpke and easybto make. The beef was tender and the stew delicious. We added sliced mushrooms into it. Will likely use thus again and experiment other small changes/additions.

First IP meal made! Super Simple, Super Yummy. Gluten Free. I omitted the 2T of Cornstach and 2T of water at the end, to thicken it up. It was already thick enough. Will definately make again.

My first instant pot recipe. It was easy to make and tasted delicious. Next time, though, I’ll try swapping out a cup of the broth with a cup of red wine to make it a little more robust.

My first true cook w instapot after the get started run. This recipe was easy and gives me confidemce. My hubby loved the stew& I did too.
It was 50 minutes plus 15 min. to bring pressure down! Served with a chopped power salad and a roll. Great hearty taste with a Cabernet even better

My family loved it! I used tomato paste instead of tomato sauce, 1/4 cup of red wine, & 3 Tbs vs 2Tbs of Worcestershire sauce. I also added peas to the sauce at the end when I was thickening my sauce. I definitely will make it again!

This is the first recipe that I used my Instant Pot for and it came out great!!! My husband loved it and my 2 year old liked it. Thanks for the recipe. I followed it as closely as I could with what I had on hand thinking that I could alter it next time but I will keep it just the way it is!!

Prep is actually around 1-2 hours to cut and prepare vegetables/meat. Otherwise it comes out great! I opted to add extra potatoes, carrots, and celery to make it stretch further.
