Top with shredded Colby-Jack cheese, sour cream, chopped fresh cilantro or green onions.
We used extra-lean ground beef in this recipe, so there’s no need to drain the beef after cooking.
When releasing pressure naturally, it’s always a good idea to set the pressure valve to VENTING after the float valve drops down, just to be sure all of the pressure has been released.

Excellent flavour – easy & quick, good & spicy, big hit with everyone! Served with sour cream, grated cheese & spring onion.
This was delicious. I added some chopped Poblano pepper and light kidney beans and a dash of sazon goya for a personal touch. The cooking directions are spot on.
Pretty good, but not perfect. I was dubious about putting the extra water in before cooking, and I should have trusted my instincts because it came out super watery at the end. Had to saute for another half an hour to get the liquid to reduce. I also added some cumin as the chili lacked that deep warmth that brings everything together (it otherwise tastes like meat, tomato and peppers).
I just made this for the first time tonight and we thought it was really good. Not watery at all.
Surprizingly fast to make. Minimal prep and clean up…love that. Needed 1 more tablespoon of chili powder for flavor.
Great first instapot recipe to try. I made it with ground vension (that my husbands mixes with pork when he processes the deer) and it made a great venison chili recipe.
This almost burnt but it was delicious. I served it with tacos. I added extra fluid (salsa sauce) and thickened it at the end with maizena. Was delicious. We had leftovers and had that on toasted sandwhiches. Yummy!
Super easy recipe and it tasted absolutely delicious. It was rather a little too watery for me, so I’ll just add a little less water next time and it should be perfect! 🙂
Love it! So easy and FAST.
We made a few modifications but it was amazing!
I followed the directions exactly. On manual, i wasnt sure i was supposed to shut it off until i read cancel. I cooked it an extra 5 min but it was very good. Its a slight watery though.
Pretty good chili. Not the best I’ve had but I enjoyed it. A little heavy on the tomatoes
This was good! Followed recipe still got a burn notice. Don’t know if I will make in IP again, but I will make again.
Quick, easy and a great chili!! Don’t be scared to spice it up!!!
Very satisfied with this recipie. I left out the extra water and it was just watery enough. Goes great with crackers to add a bit more salt.
Such an easy recipe to follow. I had 80/20 beef on hand so I browned on stove for easy transfer for draining. Put then into inner pot and followed remaining directions. Everyone loved the flavor.
Super easy. The only thing you have to prep is to cut an onion. Everything else is ready to go. Great flavor!
This recipe was so easy and delicious. I added cumin, garlic powder, mexican oregano and some dark unsweetened cocoa powder. I omitted the water at first but got the burn notice so i ended up adding it. When it was done it was a bit watery but i just put it on SAUTE for a bit and thickened up nicely!!
I made this when I wanted something quick to make and it was pretty yummy. I would make this again.
This is the first meal I cooked as a recently retired person who has it done much cooking in a long time. It turned out OK. I don’t think it deserves four or five stars but it was a great learning tool for me.
first chili recipe in my IP… not bad! pretty middle-of-the-road chili… recipe could use some improvements / additions
Good flavor but I am adjusting it to a thicker spicy chili but has a good start to make your own
I made this last night and thought it was delicious considering how quickly it cooked! I added in a small package of frozen butternut squash and it thickened it up nicely and my kids had no idea I added in something “healthy”!
I made this last night. Very quick and easy. I don’t like black beans, do I used pinto. Also added some garlic and basil. I will definitely make again and probably add some cayenne or crushed red pepper to spice it up a bit.
I really like this recipe. Its a tad on the tomato side so I may try using less crushed tomatoes next time. I skipped the water because of of all the crushed tomato and it was fine. It can be tweaked kn many ways to meet any dietary needs and taste pallet. I also cheated and just used a chili seasoning packet because a lot of the reviews said it was a tad bland. I will be making this on a regular basis.
Just FYI there is no “manual” button on mine
Hi Tmankufan,
The Manual and Pressure Cook buttons are interchangeable.
This was a great meal! Only thing for me was that once it was done it wasnt quite the flavor I expexted. I added a packet of McCormick chili mix and made this perfect!
Skip the water if you want a thicker chili
Delicious. I ised for a guidline and added some of my own touch. I used all ingredients but added some garlic salt and onion powder as well as a chili seasoning packet, a dash of habanero tobasco, and some some tomato paste to make it a thick chili. Thabks for the recipe!
