Instructions
Baby Back Pork Ribs
  1. Combine the Rub ingredients in a small dish. Rub on the front and back of the ribs.
  2. Pour Rib Pot ingredients in the bottom of the pot and then place the trivet in the pot.
  3. Place the ribs inside the pot, standing on their side, wrapping around the inside of the pot.
  4. Using the display panel select the MANUAL function*. Use the +/- keys and program the Instant Pot for 25 minutes.
  5. When the time is up, let the pressure naturally release for 10 minutes, then quick-release the remaining pressure.
  6. Carefully remove the ribs from the pressure cooker and set on a foil lined baking sheet. Brush with BBQ sauce and set under the broiler until sauce begins to caramelize, about 5 minutes.
Corn on the Cob (optional):
  1. While the ribs are under the broiler, clean the Instant Pot and refill with 1 cup of water, the trivet and the corn. Do not overfill the pot.
  2. Using the display panel select the MANUAL function*. Use the +/- keys and program the Instant Pot for 3 minutes.
  3. When the time is up, quick-release the pressure.

Would definitely make again. I will cut down the amount of chili powder in the rub, due to personal preference. Otherwise the meat was super tender and flavorful!

Family loved !!!didn’t broil at the end which i’m sure would have given them bbq feel . But all and all everyone enjoyed .

Unreal. These ribs taste like they’ve been slow cooking all day! Broiling at the end with bbq sauce is a must! I did two coats.

Not the best Not the worst cooked fast and evenly Flavor was a bit bland but still tasty I’d make it again

    Mike says:

Uhhh, NO. Yes they are tender but the only flavor they had to them had to be applied. No smoke flavor. Take your time and get a smoker and look up 3-2-1 ribs.

  6. Rosezilla
    Rosezilla says:

Way too much liquid here resulting in steamed ribs. Mushy, bones falling out if the meat, unappetizing.

Next time i will skip water and go with 1/3 cup acv, same apple juice.

Liquid smoke should be ommitted, it is a disgusting ingredient. Avoid it in your bottled sauce too.

    amcintos says:

These ribs came out so good! I subbed brown sugar for coconut sugar and omitted the chili and cayane pepper. Also added some coconut aminos. So good! The ribs tasted like they were cooking for much longer.

This was our first dish with our Viva.

Fall off the bone good!!! Dish is better than 3/5 I gave it. Probably 4/5.

We didnt have liquid smoke so left it out & next time we’d use apple juice or beer instead of apple cider vinegar.

I only gave it 3/5 stars because I am a traditional bbq pitmaster wanna be and boiling ribs is a sin in the smoker community and we have numerous recipees for cooking/smoking ribs(3-2-1 method and smoker/bbq(I’m Canadian)with diced bacon on top!

Easy to make when you want to make ribs fast!

    Added 1/2 cup lager
    1/2 cup water
    1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
    3 cloves of garlic

Definitely brush with bbq sauce and broil to char the sauce at the end!!!

So darn good and fast! 35 minute ribs!! Tender, fall off the bone good!!

I’ve learned the InstantPot will pressure cook meat and very quickly at that. I didn’t MAKE it the same way it’s written out, however, I COOKED it in the same manner and the ribs did come ouy delicious. I used my very how dry rub to marinate the ribs, and I poured my homemade BBQ sauces in the ribs once they were standing in the pot. Only used about 1/2 cup of water and about 1/4 cup hm of red wine vinegar. After 30 minutes, the ribs were very juicy, tender, and the bones still intact.

    Highly recomend.

Make sure you broil them at the end for sure, adds that total BBQ Taste

My husband and I beleive these are the best ribs! With minimal work! I substituted coconut sugar for brown sugar and used a cheaper pork rib cut (pork side ribs). Amazing! Yum!

Made these ribs last week, most important part is broiling them in the oven after cooking. Love these ribs. Would make them again.

Followed the directions to a T. The problem i had was when i stuck them in the broiler for 5 minutes they came out so dry. I will omit that part and also use my own seasoning rub recipe.
    Otherwise, the family devoured them.

This was our very first recipe in the instant pot. It took us a little longer only because we didn’t Know exactly if we were using it correctly. We ended up making 2 full racks of ribs and we ate all of them! We also make the corn on the cob with the ribs! Hands down AMAZING! We will be making this again!

These ribs are amazing! First thing cooked in my Instant pot. Easy and fell off the bone. My husband said they were better than his! No need to cook ribs all day you get that slow cooked fall off the bone result with this recipe!

My family loved them! First time I have ever made ribs at all (didn’t even know what a membrane was), and about the 3rd time using my IP. Some additional notes:
Add more to the rub mixture (also added smokehouse maple seasonv from Weber Grillmates)
2 full slabs fit in a 6qt with trivet
Takes about 20 min to get up to pressure because it’s FULL.
    25 min cook was perfect!
Takes 10 min to NPR plus another 5 min+ to QR so take that into account for your total cook time. I used water & apple juice!

  22. petlaur
    petlaur says:

Very tender and flavourful. Used 1 1/2 cups of unsweetened apple juice. Cooked ribs for 28 minutes and did 10 minute NPR. Applied bbq sauce and put ribs under broiler for 4 minutes. Could cut meat with fork and was melt in the mouth. Yummy! Will make again.

  23. ApeTheFamilyFeeder
    ApeTheFamilyFeeder says:

Soooo good! I used 1/2 cup apple juice and 1/2 cup water. I would cut the ACV buy 1/2 next time BUT other than that they were perfect! Falling off the bones and all!!!

These were amazing.. fall off the bone.. i put 2 rib racks in my insta pot.. 26min was plenty.. the seasoning rub was great..i finished them off in the broiler and bbq sauce and they were a hit.. i will make them again

First time making ribs at all ever, and only about the 3rd thing I’ve made (not including eggs lol) Turned out great!! And I WILL make it again! I added both water and Apple juice for the liquid as well as liquid smoke.

    Some additional tips/notes:
    1) Remove membrane (I almost didn’t even do this because I never knew I

  26. MWarren0514
    MWarren0514 says:

    2) Add a little more to the rub mixture because it didn’t seem quite enough (I also added smokehouse maple season from Weber Grillmates)
    3) 2 full slabs WILL fit in a 6qt with trivet in
    4) Takes about 20 min to get up to pressure
    5) 25 min cook was perfect
    6) Takes 10 min to NPR plus another 5 min+ to QR

    usvega says:

Ribs were great. Modified rub a little bit but other than that, followed everything else. Only issue i had, along with every other instapot recipe I’ve done so far; which are just a few, is that it always seems that the cook time does not account for the time it takes to build pressure. Guess ill add 20 mins for everything from now on.

  28. Darricko

Awesome ribs in less then a hour. The meet just fell off the bone. I can’t waiting to make them again.

  29. LyndaZ
    LyndaZ says:

Delicious ribs! I modified the recipe a bit because some didn’t like the apple cider vinegar taste. I increased the water to 1 1/4 cups and reduced the ACV to 1/4 cup instead of 1/2 cup.
I didn’t have liquid smoke so rather than using 2 Tblspns of Chili powder, I used 1 Tblspn of Chili Powder and 1 Tblspn of smoked paprika. That seemed to give it a mild smokey flavor.

  30. Mumaboots
    Mumaboots says:

They were very tender and the recipe is pretty good. Although I added some garlic and Beau mond to the dry rub and it was a little more flavorful. Don’t love having to finish things off in the oven but it’s really the only way to get that nice toasty glaze. Lots of dishes but everyone loved it. Doing ribs in under an hour is pretty impressive!

  31. rmoniquef@gmail.com
    rmoniquef@gmail.com says:

This was amazingly quick, easy and delicious! Only variation was using a mix of brown sugar and a pre-made rub and subbing in red wine vinegar because I didn’t have cider vinegar on hand.

Great recipe. Only works for ribs tho…when i tried it with pork chops it dried them out

  33. Skydive1994

Not worth it. Better to do this on a grill. Not comparable. Nothing beats the real smoke and heat from bbq grill.

  34. Richyy86
    Richyy86 says:

    Totally worth it!
Easy, worth the time and tasted great. I used bone broth instead of water, added a few extra seasonings to my rub and was liberal with the smoke. Fell off the bone, jucy and tender. I will make this again.

  37. mekvic2004
    mekvic2004 says:

Good flavor. NOT fall off the bone. I did put it in the broiler for about 30 minutes to get it more tender. Needs more time in the InstantPot.

  38. Instant Pot
    Instant Pot says:

Depending on the thickness of your ribs you may need more time. Feel free to add 5 more minutes but keep in mind that adding 5 minute cooking time is actually longer as the food will cook while pressurizing again.

  39. Diane Sierra
    Diane Sierra says:

Super simple prep. I basted bbq sauce 3x placing the rib rack in the oven on broil until the ribs get char. So good!

I cooked for 18 people at 10k elevation. We used a grill instead of the broiler to caramelize the ribs. This receipe was a hit and the Instant Pot did a great job keeping up with the demand at altitude.
